Description and Comments: Figural cat playing a shamisen, a musical instrument. The head is hinged at back of the neck and the striker on the bottom. A shamisen is similar in length to a guitar, but its neck is much slimmer and without frets. It's drum-like rounded rectangular body is covered with skin, usually from a cat or dog, and amplifies the sound of the strings.
