International Match Safe

Association and Museum

The Twelfth Annual

International Match Safe Association Convention

will be held in London, England on April 15 & 16, 2010

Nigel Ross will host a reception at his house on the evening of April 15. Our meeting will be held on Friday April 16. Saturday will be available for anyone that is interesting in shopping Portebello Road or other venues.

We are looking into the possibility of visiting the J. W. Evans and Sons' manufactory in Birmingham on Wednesday April 14. Evans was a tool and die maker, and made all type of hollowware including match safes/vestas. They made our 2000 and 2005 commemorative match safes utilizing original dies from the 1800's. Their manufactory was recently purchased by the English Heritage Organization and is being renovated into a museum leaving as much of the original equipment intact.

The exact location for our meeting has not been finalized but we are striving to have it in the Regent Park area within easy distance to Nigel's house. We are also trying to identify 2-3 hotels to give members a choice in their accommodations.  More information on the convention will appear in the next newsletter.
